2 Ways To Start Getting Bed Bugs Under Control
Bed bugs are tiny bugs that are hard for you to see. Generally, you have a severe problem by the time you see one. They can get in all the nooks and crannies in your soft furnishings, including rugs and carpeting. That makes them hard to get rid of. If you have seen a bed bug, you want to do everything you can to make sure that they aren't spreading and that you can get rid of them. You can do several things that will help you get bed bugs under control.
Cover Everything
One easy way to start controlling bed bugs is to make sure you are cutting off their food source, namely you. In the middle of the night, the bugs will come out from where they are hiding and bite you so that they can get something to eat. But, if you put mattress covers and pillow covers over every bed pillow and mattress in your house, that's an excellent first step. Some covers are specifically designed for bed bug control. They will zip closed, and they generally have some kind of cover on the zipper, especially at the beginning and the end, to make sure that the bed bugs can't escape through any gaps. Before putting your bedding back on, make sure that you run everything through the washer on hot and through the highest setting your dryer has because the heat can kill bed bugs.
Steam Machine
Another thing that you can try is steaming all your soft furnishings. Bed bugs are vulnerable to high heat. The heat of the steam from a steam machine is generally hot enough to do the job. You can try steam cleaning your couches, carpeting, and anything else you can't toss into the washer and dryer. The steam machine may not eliminate all the bed bugs, but it can be an excellent way to start eradicating them.
The best way to control and eradicate bed bugs is to call an exterminator who specializes in bed bugs to come and clean everything out. They will have access to tools and other things that you don't. It may take them a few treatments to get rid of the infestation, and they will ask you to do some things in between each treatment to help them out. But, if you genuinely want to get rid of the bed bugs, that's the way to do it.
