Something Crawling On Your Legs In Bed? You May Have Bed Bugs In Your Home
If you feel something crawling on your legs while you are in bed you may have bed bugs. In many cases, you will not feel these bugs as they will crawl on you while you are asleep, however. No matter which you will have small bites on your lets that will feel itchy. It is important to find out if you have bed bugs because the problem will get worse. Below are some tips so you can determine if these bugs are currently in your home.
Check Your Mattress
The first thing to do is to take your sheets off your mattress. Look closely around the edge of the mattress. If you have bed bugs you will see small red spots and dark spots. If you see these then look closer to see if you see skins. The bed bugs shed the skins when they grow from a baby to an adult. You can use a magnifying glass if you can't see well because these red and dark spots are little and very hard to see.
Once you check the mattress take it off the bed and check the bed springs. Bed bugs also get in there especially if you are infested with them.
Check Other Places
Besides a mattress you can find bed bugs in other areas of your home if you have them. For example, they get into seams of couches and chairs. To help you determine this place a white sheet over the chair. Use a card, such as a credit card, and run the card along the seams. If you have bed bugs you will see them on the sheet.
Bed bugs can also be found in curtains if they have any folds, as well as electrical outlets that have spaces open. Some will hide in the fibers in carpeting.
Get Rid of Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are very difficult to get rid of on your own and the best thing to do is to contact a pest control company to do this for you. You would not have access to the right chemicals that are needed to kill these bugs, as well as any eggs.
The pest control company can inspect your home to be sure that you do have bed bugs. Once they determine this, they will start the process of removing the bugs. If your home is infested with bed bugs, the pest control company will likely have to come back a few more times to completely kill all of them.
Talk with the bed bug control company if you have questions about any of this.
